The One for Sunday Mornings, by Kent

March 28, 2021 — The theme of this list is songs that I would like to listen to on a Sunday. We don’t go to church anymore, but I do like to have some calmer, more thoughtful songs on Sunday am, before things get rolling and everyone else gets up. I don’t think I can ever get to providing detailed liner notes like you guys, but there’s a few songs on here I can write about. If there’s no note it’s just a song I’ve always loved, come across during the pandemic, or since I’ve started this little project.

-First three songs are for chilling.

-Next three are covers I like.

-6–9 were songs I had for other playlist ideas but decided to include here. I really like the Sturgill Simpson album “Cuttin’ Grass” if you need a newer bluegrass fix

-“Lonelier Than This” is a song I come back to all the time, especially when times are dark. I’m still a sap for sad songs.

-Got into Tyler Childers during the pandemic. This song is his attempt at making sense of Trump and the anti-BLM people that make up a big chunk of his fans. He will be on several more playlists for me.

-The next 11 songs were inspired by John’s last playlist. We all love a good story, and that’s what most of these are.

-The day John Prine died was the day the weight of the pandemic all came down on me. I got drunk, listened to him in the dark, and when this song came on I wept.

Hope you guys enjoy.
